Overview
Sanhuang Jingshiming is a Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) botanical product developed by Tasly Pharmaceutical Group for the treatment of neovascular age-related macular degeneration (nAMD). Formulated as oral pills, it is currently being evaluated in Phase III clinical trials (e.g., NCT05483530) as an adjunctive therapy to be used in combination with anti-VEGF injections such as ranibizumab. The formulation is based on the traditional 'Sanhuang' (Three Yellows) herbal group, which typically includes *Radix et Rhizoma Rhei*, *Radix Scutellariae*, and *Rhizoma Coptidis*. These components are traditionally used to clear heat and detoxify, and in the context of nAMD, they are intended to provide multi-target anti-inflammatory and anti-angiogenic effects to reduce retinal edema and inhibit choroidal neovascularization.
