Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Sanjie analgesic capsule (Sanjie Zhitong Jiaonang) is a Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) formulation used for the treatment of endometriosis, adenomyosis, and associated chronic pelvic pain or dysmenorrhea. It is composed of four primary herbal components: *Resina Draconis* (Dragon's Blood), *Radix et Rhizoma Rhei* (Rhubarb), *Radix Angelicae Sinensis* (Chinese Angelica), and *Radix Paeoniae Alba* (White Peony Root). The capsule is designed to activate blood circulation, dissipate blood stasis, and regulate Qi to alleviate pain according to TCM principles. Pharmacologically, it has been shown to reduce the volume of endometriotic cysts, lower CA-125 levels, and inhibit the expression of pro-inflammatory cytokines and vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF) in ectopic tissues. It is often used as an alternative or adjunct to hormonal treatments like GnRH agonists or oral contraceptives, offering a favorable safety profile with fewer hypoestrogenic side effects.
