Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Sanjie Zhentong Capsule is a traditional Chinese herbal medicine formulation approved in China for the treatment of endometriosis-associated pain and related gynecological conditions. It is composed of four main herbal ingredients: Longxuejie (Resina Draconis), Sanqi (Panax pseudoginseng), Zhebeimu (Fritillaria thunbergii Miq), and Yiyiren (Coix seed). The primary bioactive constituents include ginsenoside Rg1, peimine, loureirin A, 7,4′-dihydroxyflavone, and pterostilbene. These compounds are associated with anti-inflammatory effects and modulation of hormone regulation pathways relevant to endometriosis. Mechanistically, network pharmacology studies suggest that the capsule acts via multiple targets including estrogen receptor (ESR), progesterone receptor (PGR), prostaglandin-endoperoxide synthase 2 (PTGS2/COX-2), nitric oxide synthase 3 (NOS3/eNOS) as well as by inhibiting inflammatory mediators such as interleukin-6 and tumor necrosis factor-alpha. The formulation has demonstrated efficacy in reducing dysmenorrhea and pelvic pain in clinical trials for endometriosis[1][3][4][6][7].
