Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Sanjiu Weitai is a Chinese patent herbal medicine formulated as granules or capsules for the treatment of chronic gastritis and various gastrointestinal symptoms. It is widely used to relieve stomach pain caused by damp-heat accumulation, Qi stagnation and blood stasis according to Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) principles. The formula contains multiple herbs including Thin Evodia Twig and leaf (Sancha Ku), Common Jasminorange Leaf and Twig (Jiuli Xiang), Shinyleaf Pricklyash Root (Liangmian Zhen), Cyperus rhizome (Koesin/Muxiang), Baical Skullcap Root (Scutellaria baicalensis/Huangqin), Glabrous Greenbrier Rhizome, Rehmannia Root (Rehmannia glutinosa/Di Huang), Poria sclerotium (Fuling) and White Peony Root (Bai Shao). Pharmacological studies suggest that its mechanism involves reducing gastric inflammation by regulating the MAPK signaling pathway and C-type lectin receptor signaling pathway through multi-target actions on proteins such as EGFR, SRC, AKT1, HSP90AA1, MAPK1 and MAPK3. Key bioactive components identified include murrangatin, meranzin hydrate, paeoniflorin and albiflorin. Clinically it is approved in China for gastralgia/gastric pain associated with chronic gastritis—including superficial or erosive types—and related symptoms like abdominal pain/distention/bloating/nausea/vomiting/loss of appetite/acid reflux[1][2][3][4][5].
