SanJoint UC

SanJoint UC is a branded pharmaceutical and nutraceutical product developed by Sanrey Therapeutics, an Indian pharmaceutical company based in Chennai. It is specifically formulated for orthopedic and rheumatological applications, primarily the management of osteoarthritis, rheumatoid arthritis, and chronic joint pain. The active ingredient, Undenatured Type II Collagen (UC-II), is a protein derived from chicken sternum cartilage that retains its native triple-helix structure. Unlike hydrolyzed collagen, which is broken down into peptides, UC-II functions via a mechanism known as oral tolerance. Upon ingestion, it interacts with gut-associated lymphoid tissue (GALT), specifically Peyer's patches in the small intestine. This interaction triggers the production of regulatory T cells (Tregs) specific to Type II collagen. These cells then migrate to the joints, where they release anti-inflammatory cytokines such as IL-10 and TGF-beta, helping to suppress the immune-mediated destruction of joint cartilage and promoting joint mobility and comfort.
