Sann-Joong-Kuey-Jian-Tang

Sann-Joong-Kuey-Jian-Tang (SJKJT), also known as San-Zhong-Kui-Jian-Tang or Sanshu-kaigen-to, is a traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) herbal prescription consisting of 17 to 18 medicinal herbs, including Forsythia fruit, Laminaria leaf, and Scute root. It has been traditionally used to treat lymphadenopathy, swelling, and inflammation, and is utilized as a complementary or adjuvant medication for various solid cancers in Taiwan and other regions. Research indicates that SJKJT exhibits antineoplastic activity against several human cancer cell lines, including breast cancer, colon cancer, hepatocellular carcinoma, oral squamous cell carcinoma, and pancreatic cancer. Its molecular mechanisms of action include the dual blockade of the Ras/Raf/MEK/ERK and Ras/PI3K/Akt/mTOR pathways, down-regulation of growth factor receptors such as VEGFR, EGFR, and IGF-IR, and induction of cell cycle arrest and mitochondrial apoptosis.
