Sanqi Longxuejie

Sanqi Longxuejie is a traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) hospital preparation developed by Xiyuan Hospital of the Chinese Academy of Chinese Medical Sciences. It is a combination product primarily composed of *Panax notoginseng* (Sanqi) and *Resina Draconis* (Longxuejie/Dragon's Blood). The formulation is specifically indicated for the treatment of coronary heart disease and stable exertional angina pectoris, particularly in patients presenting with the TCM syndrome of blood stasis obstructing the heart. Mechanistically, it exerts therapeutic effects by inhibiting platelet aggregation, reducing blood viscosity, and improving myocardial microcirculation. The active components, including ginsenosides from Sanqi and phenolic compounds like loureirin from Resina Draconis, contribute to its anti-inflammatory, analgesic, and cardioprotective properties. It is currently utilized in clinical settings and research trials in China to evaluate its efficacy as an adjunctive or primary therapy for chronic stable angina.
