Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Sanqi Tongshuan Pian is a Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) hospital preparation developed by the Kunming Municipal Hospital of Traditional Chinese Medicine in conjunction with the Kunming Institute of Nephrology. It is primarily indicated for the treatment of ischemic stroke, specifically during the recovery and stable phases of cerebral infarction. The formulation is centered on the pharmacological activity of *Panax notoginseng* (Sanqi), which is rich in total saponins (PNS). These active compounds exert therapeutic effects by inhibiting platelet aggregation, reducing blood viscosity, and improving cerebral microcirculation. Additionally, the drug provides neuroprotective benefits by mitigating inflammatory responses and oxidative stress following ischemic injury. As a hospital-specific preparation, it is utilized within the clinical framework of TCM to promote blood circulation, resolve blood stasis, and facilitate the recovery of neurological functions in post-stroke patients.
