Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Sanquin Innovatie is developing a novel adoptive cell therapy platform utilizing regulatory T cells (Tregs) for the treatment of autoimmune and inflammatory diseases. The core of this technology is a proprietary technique to isolate and purify Tregs from peripheral blood or blood products using a newly identified, novel cell surface marker. This high-purity isolation method is designed to overcome the challenges of Treg heterogeneity and contamination with effector T cells, thereby enhancing the potency and safety of the resulting cell product. By expanding these purified Tregs and re-infusing them into patients, the therapy aims to restore immune tolerance and suppress pathological inflammatory responses. The project is currently in the preclinical stage of development.
