Drug intelligence / Profile preview
SanShenHuangFeng Decoction is a traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) herbal formula developed by The First Affiliated Hospital of Zhejiang Chinese Medical University for the treatment of essential thrombocythemia (ET). The decoction is composed of five primary herbal and animal-derived ingredients: Taizi Shen (Pseudostellaria heterophylla), Dan Shen (Salvia miltiorrhiza), Xuan Shen (Scrophularia ningpoensis), Huang Qi (Astragalus membranaceus), and Feng Fang (Nidus Vespae). It is designed to address the TCM pathogenesis of ET, which is characterized by Qi and Yin deficiency, blood stasis, and the accumulation of toxins. Mechanistically, the formula is hypothesized to modulate the JAK2/STAT3 signaling pathway, thereby inhibiting the abnormal proliferation of megakaryocytes and reducing elevated platelet counts. It is currently being evaluated in clinical trials (e.g., ChiCTR2400079642) to establish its efficacy and safety as a therapeutic option for patients with ET.
