Drug intelligence / Profile preview
The Sanshimao (SSM) formula is a Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) herbal prescription specifically used for the treatment of hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC). It is a combination of four herbs: Maorenshen (Actinidia chinensis), Shijianchuan (Salvia chinensis), Shishangbai (Selaginella doederleinii), and Shidachuan (Salvia plebeia). Clinically, it is employed for its detoxification and blood-stasis-removing properties. Research indicates that the formula's therapeutic efficacy is linked to its ability to target the Epidermal Growth Factor Receptor (EGFR), thereby inhibiting the growth and progression of liver cancer cells. It is typically administered as an oral decoction.
