Overview
San-Wu-Huang-Qin decoction is a Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) herbal formula being investigated for the prevention of colorectal adenoma recurrence. Developed by Shuguang Hospital Affiliated to Shanghai University of Traditional Chinese Medicine, the decoction is typically composed of three primary herbs: *Scutellaria baicalensis* (Huangqin), *Sophora flavescens* (Kushen), and *Rehmannia glutinosa* (Shengdihuang). It is traditionally used to clear heat, dry dampness, and cool the blood, specifically targeting patients with 'hot and humid syndrome' (Damp-Heat syndrome). In the context of colorectal health, it is hypothesized to modulate the intestinal microenvironment and inflammatory pathways to inhibit the formation of new adenomatous polyps following surgical resection.
