Overview
Sanye tablet is a Chinese herbal medicine developed by the Tianjin University of Traditional Chinese Medicine for the treatment of metabolic disorders. It is primarily composed of extracts from three medicinal leaves: Mulberry leaf (*Folium Mori*), Ginkgo leaf (*Folium Ginkgo*), and Lotus leaf (*Folium Nelumbinis*). The formulation is designed to manage type 2 diabetes mellitus, hyperlipidemia, and impaired glucose tolerance (IGT) by improving insulin sensitivity and regulating lipid metabolism. Clinical trials in China have evaluated its efficacy in reducing the risk of progression from IGT to diabetes and its safety profile in patients with metabolic syndrome. The active components, such as 1-deoxynojirimycin (DNJ) from mulberry leaf, contribute to its blood glucose-lowering effects through the inhibition of carbohydrate-digesting enzymes.
