Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Sanzi Huangshi No.2 Pill (SHP) is an arsenic-containing Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) compound formulation developed by the Shanghai Municipal Hospital of Traditional Chinese Medicine and Shanghai University of Traditional Chinese Medicine. It is primarily indicated for the treatment of myelodysplastic syndrome (MDS), particularly lower-risk MDS. The formula contains arsenic-based active ingredients, which are characteristic of certain TCM treatments for hematological malignancies. SHP is thought to modulate hematopoietic pathways and induce apoptosis or differentiation in dysplastic cells. It has been evaluated in clinical trials as an adjuvant therapy in combination with thalidomide to improve outcomes in MDS patients.
