Drug intelligence / Profile preview
SAP-021-T2 is a novel, solid oral dosage form (capsule) of cannabidiol (CBD) developed by Sapient Therapeutics (Australia) PTY Ltd. It is one of two formulation variants (alongside SAP-021-T1) designed to provide a more convenient and potentially more bioavailable alternative to the existing oil-based oral solution, Epidiolex. The drug is being developed via the FDA's 505(b)(2) regulatory pathway for the treatment of seizure disorders associated with Dravet syndrome and other related epilepsy conditions. In Phase 1 clinical trials, SAP-021-T2 was evaluated in healthy volunteers to compare its relative bioavailability and food-effect profile against the reference product, Epidiolex.
