SAPDM275 is an investigational tumor vaccine developed by Shanghai Apeiron Biotechnology, designed to target the stress-inducible proteins MICA (MHC class I polypeptide-related sequence A) and MICB (MHC class I polypeptide-related sequence B). These proteins are typically expressed on the surface of malignant or stressed cells and act as ligands for the activating receptor NKG2D found on natural killer (NK) cells and CD8+ T cells. To evade immune detection, many tumors shed MICA and MICB from their surface; SAPDM275 aims to stimulate a robust immune response against these proteins to prevent immune evasion and facilitate the immune-mediated destruction of cancer cells. The vaccine is currently being evaluated in early-phase clinical trials, specifically for metastatic pancreatic cancer, where it is administered via intramuscular injection in combination with the chemotherapy regimen of nab-paclitaxel and gemcitabine (AG regimen).
