Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Saposhnikovia divaricata chromone extract is a botanical extract derived from the dried root (Radix Saposhnikoviae) of *Saposhnikovia divaricata* (Turcz.) Schischk, a perennial herb from the family Umbelliferae. The extract is enriched in chromones, which are among the major bioactive constituents of this traditional Chinese medicine herb known as Fangfeng. The chromone compounds in this extract demonstrate multiple mechanisms of action, including inhibition of nuclear factor-κB (NF-κB) and mitogen-activated protein kinases (MAPKs), as well as modulation of inflammatory cytokine production. The extract exhibits anti-inflammatory, analgesic, immunoregulatory, antioxidant, and antiproliferative activities. It has been studied for therapeutic applications in osteoarthritis, rheumatoid arthritis, and other inflammatory conditions. The chromone extract works by suppressing production of nitric oxide (NO), prostaglandin E2 (PGE2), tumor necrosis factor-α (TNF-α), and interleukin-6 (IL-6) in inflammatory models.
