Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Saptalizumab (also known as GLS-010) is a fully human monoclonal antibody that targets the programmed cell death protein 1 (PD-1) receptor, an immune checkpoint receptor expressed on T cells. By binding to PD-1, saptalizumab blocks its interaction with the ligands PD-L1 and PD-L2, which are often overexpressed by tumor cells to evade immune detection. This blockade prevents the inhibitory signaling that suppresses T-cell activation, thereby restoring and enhancing the immune system's ability to identify and destroy cancer cells. Saptalizumab was developed by Gloria Biosciences (Guangzhou Gloria Biosciences) in collaboration with WuXi Biologics. It received its first regulatory approval from the China National Medical Products Administration (NMPA) in August 2021 for the treatment of patients with relapsed or refractory classical Hodgkin lymphoma (r/r cHL) who have failed at least two prior lines of systemic chemotherapy. The drug is marketed under the brand name Zimberland (Yutuo) and is also undergoing clinical evaluation for other indications, including cervical cancer and various solid tumors.
