SAPU006 is a humanized monoclonal antibody developed by Sapu Bioscience that targets Signal Regulatory Protein Alpha (SIRPα), an inhibitory receptor predominantly expressed on macrophages and other myeloid cells. By binding to SIRPα, SAPU006 prevents its interaction with CD47, a 'don't eat me' signal frequently overexpressed on the surface of various cancer cells. This blockade disrupts the inhibitory signaling that normally protects tumor cells from the immune system, thereby promoting macrophage-mediated phagocytosis and enhancing the overall anti-tumor immune response. SAPU006 is currently being evaluated in early-phase clinical trials for the treatment of advanced solid tumors, both as a monotherapy and in combination with other checkpoint inhibitors.
