Sapugel is a topical self-assembling peptide hydrogel developed by Chongqing Fujin Biomedical (Fagen Bio). It is composed of the RADA16 peptide, which spontaneously organizes into a stable, three-dimensional nanofiber scaffold upon contact with physiological fluids or electrolytes. This hydrogel acts as a biomimetic extracellular matrix, providing a protective physical barrier and a structural environment that promotes cell migration and tissue regeneration. Sapugel is intended for the management of various wounds, including pressure ulcers, leg ulcers, diabetic ulcers (including diabetic foot ulcers), surgical wounds, and skin abrasions or burns associated with dermabrasion and laser resurfacing. The product is currently in preclinical development, having completed biocompatibility and transdermal absorption studies.
