Overview

SAR-trastuzumab is a radiopharmaceutical theranostic candidate being developed by Clarity Pharmaceuticals for the treatment and imaging of HER2-expressing cancers. The asset utilizes Clarity's proprietary Sarcophagine (SAR) chelator technology to securely bind copper radioisotopes to the monoclonal antibody trastuzumab, which targets the Human Epidermal Growth Factor Receptor 2 (HER2). The program typically employs a Pairing for Precision approach, using 64Cu-SAR-trastuzumab for PET imaging to identify patients and monitor distribution, followed by 67Cu-SAR-trastuzumab to deliver targeted beta-radiation to the tumor site. This mechanism allows for precise localization and destruction of HER2-positive cancer cells while minimizing damage to healthy tissue. It is currently undergoing Phase 1 clinical evaluation.
