SAR110894

SAR110894 is a potent and selective small molecule antagonist of the histamine H3 receptor. Developed by Sanofi, it was investigated primarily for the treatment of cognitive symptoms associated with Alzheimer's disease. Preclinical studies demonstrated procognitive effects in rodent models relevant to Alzheimer's disease, schizophrenia (cognitive impairment associated with schizophrenia), and attention deficit/hyperactivity disorder (ADHD). In animal models, it improved memory performance and reversed deficits in working memory and attention induced by pharmacological or genetic manipulations. The drug reached phase 2 clinical trials for Alzheimer's disease but development was discontinued after these studies did not demonstrate significant efficacy over placebo[1][3][5].
