Overview

Sar9, Met (O2)11–Substance P is a synthetic peptide analog of the neuropeptide Substance P. It features two key modifications: sarcosine at position 9 and methionine sulfoxide at position 11. This compound acts as a potent and selective agonist of the neurokinin 1 receptor (NK1R), also known as the tachykinin NK1 receptor. The NK1 receptor is widely distributed in both central and peripheral nervous systems and mediates many physiological responses to Substance P, including pain transmission, inflammation, and smooth muscle contraction. As an investigational tool compound rather than a marketed pharmaceutical product, it is primarily used in research settings to study NK1 receptor function[1][3][4][5].
