Drug intelligence / Profile preview
**sarcosine^1-isoleucine^8-angiotensin II** is a synthetic peptide analogue of angiotensin II in which the first amino acid (aspartic acid) is replaced by sarcosine and the eighth amino acid (phenylalanine) is replaced by isoleucine. It acts as an agonist at the angiotensin II type 1 receptor (AT1R), with some selectivity for β-arrestin signaling pathways. This analogue has been studied for its hemodynamic effects in patients with essential hypertension and inhalation injury, where it can cause transient increases in blood pressure primarily through increased total peripheral resistance[1][6][8]. It has also been used as a research tool to study angiotensin receptor function and localization[2]. The compound is produced synthetically and does not have established therapeutic use or brand names.
