Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Sarilumab + conventional synthetic disease-modifying anti-rheumatic drugs (csDMARDs) is a combination therapy used for the treatment of moderate-to-severe rheumatoid arthritis. Sarilumab is a human monoclonal antibody that inhibits both soluble and membrane-bound interleukin-6 receptor (IL-6R), blocking IL-6–mediated signaling and thereby reducing inflammation. csDMARDs are small-molecule immunosuppressive agents (including methotrexate, leflunomide, hydroxychloroquine, sulfasalazine) that generally suppress immune function through a variety of mechanisms but do not target specific cytokines or immune cells. The combination is indicated for patients with rheumatoid arthritis who have had inadequate response or intolerance to anti-TNF agents, with the goal of reducing disease activity, improving physical function, and slowing radiographic progression[1][3][5].
