SARM-2f is a **novel, non-steroidal selective androgen receptor modulator (SARM)** developed primarily for its anabolic effects on muscle, with reduced androgenic activity in other tissues such as the prostate. It demonstrates potent and tissue-specific agonist action on the **androgen receptor**, with higher activity in skeletal muscle compared to prostate tissue. SARM-2f shows an EC50 in the low nanomolar range for human androgen receptors and exhibits significant increases in lean body mass and skeletal muscle mass in animal models (rats and cynomolgus monkeys). It improves muscle function and physical activities, such as locomotor activity and voluntary running, and can partially restore sexual/motivation-related behaviors lost due to castration in animal research. Additionally, SARM-2f has a favorable effect on the blood lipid profile (suppressing cholesterol and triglyceride levels) and appears less stimulatory on prostate tissue relative to classical androgens like testosterone. Initial development was reported by Takeda Pharmaceutical. Its intended applications include **sarcopenia, cachexia, and related muscle-wasting diseases**. No human clinical trial results are published as of 2025.
