Drug intelligence / Profile preview
SARS-CoV-2 convalescent plasma (AdventHealth) is a biological therapy consisting of plasma collected from matched donors who have fully recovered from COVID-19. This plasma contains high titers of neutralizing antibodies specifically targeting the SARS-CoV-2 virus. Developed and administered by AdventHealth under an Expanded Access Protocol (EAP), the treatment provides passive immunity to hospitalized patients with severe or life-threatening COVID-19. The mechanism of action involves the transferred antibodies binding to the viral spike protein, thereby neutralizing the virus, preventing its entry into host cells, and facilitating viral clearance by the recipient's immune system.
