SARS-CoV-2 convalescent plasma (Fundación Santa Fe de Bogota)

SARS-CoV-2 convalescent plasma is a biologic therapy derived from the blood of individuals who have recovered from COVID-19. Developed by Fundación Santa Fe de Bogota, this therapeutic approach involves the intravenous administration of plasma containing high titers of neutralizing antibodies (specifically IgG anti-SARS-CoV-2) to provide passive immunization. The primary objective is to neutralize the SARS-CoV-2 virus in hospitalized or high-risk patients, thereby reducing viral load and preventing disease progression to severe or critical stages. This therapy was evaluated in the Phase II/III CRI-CP randomized clinical trial (NCT04425837), which assessed its efficacy and safety in adult patients with high-risk COVID-19.
