Drug intelligence / Profile preview
SARS-CoV-2 hyperimmune intravenous immunoglobulin (Covimmune) is a plasma-derived biologic therapeutic developed by Aegros for the prevention and treatment of COVID-19, particularly in immunocompromised individuals who do not respond adequately to vaccines. It is produced by fractionating and concentrating pooled COVID-19 convalescent plasma using Aegros's patented HaemaFrac® electro-separation technology. This process yields a standardized, high-titer preparation of polyclonal IgG antibodies (including conserved levels of IgG3) with neutralizing specificity against the SARS-CoV-2 spike protein. In clinical trials, Covimmune demonstrated a fourfold increase in neutralizing antibody levels compared to standard convalescent plasma, with a favorable safety and tolerability profile.
