Drug intelligence / Profile preview
The SARS-CoV-2 neutralizing VHH antibody is a preclinical-stage single-domain antibody (nanobody) being developed by COGNANOUS for the treatment and prevention of COVID-19. Derived from camelid heavy-chain-only antibodies, this VHH antibody is designed to target and neutralize the SARS-CoV-2 spike protein, specifically by binding to the receptor-binding domain (RBD). This binding prevents the virus from interacting with the human ACE2 receptor, thereby blocking viral entry into host cells. Due to their small size and high stability, VHH antibodies offer potential advantages over traditional monoclonal antibodies, including the possibility of administration via inhalation and easier large-scale production.
