Overview
SARS-CoV-2 recombinant protein vaccine (monovalent B.1.351) + AS03 adjuvant, commercially known as **VidPrevtyn Beta**, is a COVID-19 vaccine developed by Sanofi and GSK. It is a recombinant protein subunit vaccine that utilizes a baculovirus expression system to produce a stabilized pre-fusion version of the SARS-CoV-2 spike (S) protein derived from the Beta (B.1.351) variant. The vaccine is formulated with GSK's proprietary **AS03** (Adjuvant System 03), an oil-in-water emulsion containing squalene, DL-α-tocopherol, and polysorbate 80, which enhances the immune response. It was primarily evaluated in Phase 3 clinical trials (e.g., VAT08) as a booster dose in adults previously vaccinated with mRNA or viral vector vaccines, demonstrating the ability to elicit broad neutralizing antibody responses against multiple variants, including Beta, Delta, and Omicron.
