Drug intelligence / Profile preview
A recombinant protein vaccine for the prevention of COVID-19, consisting of the stabilized prefusion SARS-CoV-2 spike protein derived from the ancestral D614 strain, produced using the baculovirus expression system, and formulated with the AS03 adjuvant. The vaccine is designed to elicit neutralizing antibodies targeting the spike protein of SARS-CoV-2. AS03 is an oil-in-water emulsion adjuvant containing α-tocopherol, squalene, and polysorbate 80, and is included to enhance immunogenicity and durability of the immune response. The primary indication is for immunization against COVID-19, both as a primary series and as a booster. Developed by Sanofi and GSK, the vaccine has been studied in phase 3 clinical trials as monovalent (D614) and as a formulation for booster and primary immunization in adults, including after priming with other COVID-19 vaccines[2][3][4][5].
