SARS-CoV-2 variant omicron BA.5 mRNA vaccine refers to a category of mRNA-based vaccines engineered to target the spike protein of the SARS-CoV-2 Omicron BA.5 subvariant. A specific example is **LVRNA012**, developed by AIM Vaccine Co., Ltd. in collaboration with Liverna Therapeutics Inc. This vaccine candidate encodes the spike antigen of the BA.5 variant and is formulated for intramuscular administration. In clinical studies, LVRNA012 has been evaluated as a heterologous booster in adults who previously received inactivated COVID-19 vaccines. Results from a Phase 3 clinical trial (NCT05745545) in China demonstrated a vaccine efficacy of 51.9% against symptomatic COVID-19 and significant induction of neutralizing antibodies against various Omicron lineages, including XBB.1.5.
