SARTATE is a next-generation theranostic radiopharmaceutical developed by Clarity Pharmaceuticals that targets the somatostatin receptor 2 (SSTR2), which is overexpressed in various cancers including neuroendocrine tumors (NETs) and neuroblastoma. The drug utilizes Clarity's proprietary SAR (Sarcophagine) technology, a cage-like chelator that securely binds copper isotopes, preventing their leakage into the body. As a theranostic, it is used as **64Cu-SARTATE** for high-resolution PET imaging and staging, and as **67Cu-SARTATE** for targeted beta-radiation therapy. This "Targeted Copper Therapy" (TCT) approach aims to provide superior imaging quality and therapeutic efficacy compared to existing radiopharmaceuticals, while also offering logistical advantages due to the longer half-lives of copper isotopes compared to gallium-68.
