**SASPject PT1.2** is a novel antibiotic platform technology developed by Phico Therapeutics, designed for targeted bacterial killing without promoting resistance. It consists of a bacteriophage delivery vector that injects a gene encoding the antibacterial protein SASP into target bacteria, where SASP binds non-sequence-specifically to bacterial DNA, halting replication, gene expression, toxin production, and metabolism, leading to rapid cell death. Initially developed for intranasal decolonization of **Staphylococcus aureus** including MRSA, it demonstrated rapid 5-log killing in preclinical studies even in mucus, completed Phase I trials showing safety and tolerability in healthy volunteers, with plans for Phase II, and shows broad potential against Gram-positive and Gram-negative bacteria like **E. coli**.
