Overview

**SASPject PT3.9** is an engineered bacteriophage-based antibacterial therapy developed by Phico Therapeutics using the proprietary SASPject platform. It employs modified bacteriophages to deliver a gene encoding small acid-soluble spore proteins (SASPs) specifically to **Pseudomonas aeruginosa**, a multidrug-resistant pathogen responsible for severe hospital-acquired infections like ventilator-associated pneumonia. Inside target bacteria, the gene produces SASPs that bind and inactivate bacterial DNA, halting metabolism and reproduction without affecting host cells; this sequence-independent mechanism minimizes resistance development, addressing critical needs in antimicrobial resistance.[1][2][5]
