Drug intelligence / Profile preview
SASPject SP1.13 is an engineered, non-lytic bacteriophage therapeutic being developed by SASPiPhi for the treatment of endocarditis caused by *Staphylococcus aureus*. Utilizing SASPiPhi's proprietary SASPject platform, the therapy employs a modified bacteriophage as a nano-delivery vehicle to deliver a gene encoding a small acid-soluble spore protein (SASP) directly into target bacterial cells. Once inside, the host bacterial machinery synthesizes the SASP, which binds to and inactivates bacterial DNA, leading to rapid cell death. SASPject SP1.13 is currently in the lead optimization stage of preclinical development.
