Overview

Satraplatin + vinorelbine is an investigational combination of two chemotherapeutic agents used in clinical trials for advanced solid tumors. Satraplatin is a third-generation, orally administered platinum-based compound (also known as JM-216 or bis(acetato) ammine dichloro (cyclohexylamine) platinum), which exerts its antitumor effect by forming DNA adducts and crosslinks that inhibit DNA replication and transcription, ultimately leading to apoptosis. Vinorelbine is a semi-synthetic vinca alkaloid and mitotic inhibitor that disrupts microtubule polymerization by binding to tubulin beta chain, thereby blocking cell division at metaphase and inducing apoptosis. The combination has been evaluated in phase I studies for tolerability and preliminary efficacy in patients with advanced solid malignancies such as ovarian cancer and prostate cancer[5][6][7].
