Overview

Savolitinib is an orally bioavailable, highly selective small molecule inhibitor of the mesenchymal epithelial transition factor (MET) receptor tyrosine kinase. It acts by binding to and inhibiting the activation of MET in an ATP-competitive manner, thereby disrupting downstream signal transduction pathways involved in tumor growth and progression. Savolitinib has demonstrated antineoplastic activity and is primarily developed for the treatment of non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) with MET exon 14 skipping alterations. It is also being investigated for other cancers including renal cell carcinoma, gastric cancer, colorectal cancer, prostate cancer, breast cancer, head and neck cancers, pancreatic cancer, and other gastrointestinal malignancies. The drug can be used as monotherapy or in combination with EGFR inhibitors to overcome resistance mechanisms in NSCLC patients[1][4][5][7].
