Overview
A multi-ingredient phytotherapeutic combination consisting of extracts from saw palmetto, tomato (lycopene), uva ursi, pygeum, and pumpkin. This specific formulation is being investigated by Ain Shams University for the treatment of Chronic Prostatitis Category IIIB (Chronic Pelvic Pain Syndrome), often in combination with Extracorporeal Shock-Wave Therapy (ESWT). The components work synergistically through several mechanisms: saw palmetto and pygeum inhibit 5-alpha-reductase and provide anti-inflammatory effects by inhibiting cyclooxygenase and lipoxygenase pathways; tomato provides lycopene, a potent antioxidant; uva ursi acts as a urinary antiseptic; and pumpkin seed extract supports prostate health through phytosterols. In Egypt, this combination is commercially available as Prostacure.
