Drug intelligence / Profile preview
SB-001 is an experimental fully human monoclonal antibody developed by AcadeMab Biomedical Inc. for the treatment of COVID-19. It was discovered using single B cell technology from SARS-CoV-2 vaccine recipients and is designed to target the receptor binding domain (RBD) of the SARS-CoV-2 spike (S) protein. This binding prevents the virus from attaching to and entering host cells. SB-001 was specifically optimized to neutralize the Omicron variant and its subvariants, addressing the need for effective therapeutics against evolving viral strains. As of late 2022, the candidate was in the discovery and preclinical stages, with plans to initiate Phase 1 human trials in 2023.
