SB-11 is a novel synthetic small molecule and sclareol analogue developed by researchers at Panjab University. Synthesized via a Boron-Heck coupling reaction, this diterpene derivative involves structural modifications at the C-15 terminal double bond of sclareol while maintaining the stereochemistry of the parent molecule's five chiral centers. SB-11 has demonstrated potent antibacterial activity against both *Staphylococcus aureus* and methicillin-resistant *Staphylococcus aureus* (MRSA), with minimum inhibitory concentration (MIC) values between 3 and 11 μM. Research indicates that SB-11 acts synergistically with the antibiotic ciprofloxacin, enhancing its efficacy against staphylococcal pathogens. Currently in the research phase, SB-11 is being investigated as a potential lead compound for the development of new antibacterial therapies.
