SB-611812 is a urotensin II (UT) receptor antagonist. It inhibits urotensin-II-induced proliferation of neonatal cardiac fibroblasts and has potential in cardiovascular disease research. It has been shown to attenuate cardiac dysfunction in animal models, such as reducing mortality and improving cardiac function in rats with induced heart failure. SB-611812 acts by blocking the effects of urotensin II, which is involved in cardiovascular diseases like heart failure and restenosis after angioplasty.
