SB-ADSC-01 is an allogeneic adipose-derived mesenchymal stem cell (ADSC) therapy being developed by ReproCELL, under license from Steminent Biotherapeutics, for the treatment of spinocerebellar ataxia (SCA), specifically types 3 and 6. The therapy consists of mesenchymal stem cells isolated from the adipose tissue of healthy donors, which are expanded and administered intravenously. These cells are thought to exert neuroprotective effects through the secretion of various neurotrophic factors and anti-inflammatory cytokines, potentially slowing the progression of neurodegeneration in the cerebellum and spinal cord. It is currently being evaluated in a Phase 2/3 clinical trial in Japan, following orphan drug designation for the treatment of SCA.
