Overview

**SB-T-121605** is a third-generation taxane derivative developed as an anticancer agent. It is designed to overcome multidrug resistance observed with earlier taxanes such as paclitaxel. SB-T-121605 demonstrates improved metabolic stability and membrane permeability relative to previous taxanes, yielding increased efficacy in vitro against resistant cancer cell lines. The agent disrupts microtubule dynamics, leading to mitotic arrest and apoptosis in cancer cells. Preclinical models show potent antitumor activity, particularly in combination with paclitaxel, with reduced tumor growth in resistant ovarian and pancreatic cancer xenografts at low doses. Nevertheless, systemic toxicity, including intestinal obstruction and physical wasting, is observed at doses ≥3 mg/kg, limiting its standalone clinical potential. SB-T-121605 is under active investigation in preclinical studies and has not reached clinical trial or approval stages[1][2][3][4].
