Overview

SB101-siRNA is an investigational small interfering RNA (siRNA) therapeutic being developed by Shift Bioscience for the treatment of liver fibrosis. The drug utilizes the RNA interference (RNAi) pathway to silence the expression of a specific target gene involved in the fibrotic process. As of early 2024, the candidate is in the preclinical stage of development, specifically having demonstrated in vivo proof-of-concept (POC). While the specific molecular target has not been publicly disclosed, the therapy is designed to address the underlying drivers of liver tissue scarring and regeneration. Shift Bioscience is concurrently developing a small molecule version of SB101 for systemic sclerosis, but the siRNA modality is specifically focused on hepatic indications.
