Overview
SB17170 is an orally bioavailable prodrug that is converted in the body to its active metabolite, SB1703. It acts as a small molecule inhibitor of high mobility group protein B1 (HMGB1), a nuclear protein involved in inflammation and cancer progression. By inhibiting HMGB1, SB17170 has potential immunomodulating and antineoplastic (anti-cancer) activities. The drug is being developed primarily for the treatment of solid tumors, particularly locally advanced or metastatic malignant neoplasms.
