Drug intelligence / Profile preview
SB41 is an investigational biosimilar candidate referencing AstraZeneca's Fasenra (benralizumab). It is being developed by Samsung Bioepis in partnership with Teva under a global license, development, and commercialization agreement. SB41 is a monoclonal antibody designed to target the interleukin-5 receptor subunit alpha (IL-5Rα), thereby blocking IL-5 signaling and reducing eosinophil levels. The reference product, Fasenra, is approved for the treatment of severe eosinophilic asthma. Under the terms of their partnership, Samsung Bioepis is responsible for the development, regulatory registration, and manufacturing of SB41, while Teva is responsible for commercialization in major global markets, including the United States, Europe, and Canada.
