Drug intelligence / Profile preview
SBA-15 + Oxa(FBP)2 (also written as SBA-15|[Oxa(FBP)2]) is an academic research-stage nanoparticle-encapsulated drug delivery construct [31]. It consists of mesoporous silica nanoparticles (SBA-15) loaded with [Oxa(FBP)2], a platinum(IV) prodrug conjugate [31]. The prodrug [Oxa(FBP)2] features an oxaliplatin core axially coordinated to two flurbiprofen (an NSAID) ligands [31]. This design aims to combine the cytotoxic DNA-damaging effects of oxaliplatin with the anti-inflammatory, cyclooxygenase (COX)-inhibiting properties of flurbiprofen, while the SBA-15 nanoparticles provide sustained release and passive tumor targeting [31]. It has been investigated in vitro for its antiproliferative activity against various human breast cancer cell lines, including triple-negative breast cancer (TNBC) and ER/PR-positive lines [31].
