Overview

SBC091-01 is a therapeutic program developed by SunRegen Healthcare for the treatment of Retinitis Pigmentosa (RP) and Age-Related Macular Degeneration (AMD). The program centers on the lead candidate SBC003, a first-in-class small molecule designed to activate the neuroglobin pathway and function as a chaperone protein. SBC003 provides neuroprotective, neurorescuing, and neurotrophic effects, aiming to halt the progression of retinal degeneration and potentially restore vision by supporting the survival and function of photoreceptors and retinal ganglion cells. SunRegen Healthcare plans to prioritize the approval of SBC003 for Retinitis Pigmentosa before expanding its use to broader indications such as dry AMD and various forms of optic atrophy.
